Dallas Scene of the Day: ‘Bobby … I’m in Love With You’

Morning After, Morgan Brittany, Patrick Duffy

What’s not to love?

In “Morning After,” a seventh-season “Dallas” episode, Bobby and Katherine (Patrick Duffy, Morgan Brittany) have a picnic in a park.

BOBBY: Well, this is a first.

KATHERINE: In what way?

BOBBY: I cannot remember, ever in my life, having a picnic in the middle of a working day. [They toast.]

KATHERINE: Well, do you mind?

BOBBY: I think it’s wonderful. I’ve just never done it before. [He pops a grape into his mouth.]

KATHERINE: Bobby, there’s something I should tell you. I was very disappointed that you didn’t ask me to the Oil Baron’s Ball.

BOBBY: Ask you to be my date? Katherine, the thought never occurred to me.

KATHERINE: Don’t you think it should have?

BOBBY: You are Pam’s sister.

KATHERINE: But you’re not married to Pam anymore.

BOBBY: Well, I realize that, of course —

KATHERINE: Bobby, why did Jenna Wade come back into your life?

BOBBY: What?

KATHERINE: I’d just like to know about her.

BOBBY: All right. Jenna Wade. Jenna is probably the first girl that I ever truly loved.

KATHERINE: Yes, that’s what I’d heard. But what about now? How do you feel about her now?

BOBBY: Katherine, you forgive me if this sounds rude, but I don’t think that’s any of your business.

KATHERINE: But of course it is. Don’t you understand why?

BOBBY: No, I don’t.

KATHERINE: You don’t, do you? Bobby, don’t you realize I’m in love with you? I’ve been in love with you from the first time I ever saw you. I just never said anything because you were married to my sister.

BOBBY: Katherine, I … I don’t know what to say. I didn’t have the slightest idea.

KATHERINE: I thought it was written all over my face.

BOBBY: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.

KATHERINE: Hurt me?

BOBBY: I could just never see you and I being together.

KATHERINE: Am I so unattractive?

BOBBY: Oh, no. Of course not. But you’re Pam’s sister. I could never think of you in any other way.

KATHERINE: But you could think of Jenna Wade in another way.

BOBBY: Jenna and I have known each other a long time. And we’ve always had very strong feelings for one another.

KATHERINE: Well, lucky Jenna.

  1. Jennifer Irons says:

Morgan Brittany and Patrick Duffy worked so well together, especially in this particular scene! She comes across seemingly sympathetic b/c she “loves” Bobby but of course, the fun part is when she really gets nasty and becomes obsessive with him! MB and PD play off each other so well!

  2. I’ve seen Priscilla Presley after the plastic surgery, she still is very sexual attractive even in her 60’s. Your god damn rights I want to see Jenna Wade back! This would make the ghost of Brother J. R. happy as it will cause romantic confusion for Brother Bobby & current wife Ann! Thus leaving more room for Nephew John Ross to strike & try with his mother combined to seize 51%of the 75% of the new Ewing Global away from his Uncle & Cousin Christopher. It also puts ol’ Cliff Barnes’s shares back inII play as each Ewing brother will have to try & forge a deal with Elena beIV she goes kick ass on them over the land deal that ol’ J. R. cheated her daddy on. It puts every1 off their game!

  3. Katherine was not just crazy but pathetic b****. She and Bobby had never dated, been in any romantic/close encounter to have her admit this and expect him to respond in some romantic way. Bobby seem like the man who respected people’s feelings and relationships. He did not seem like the man to go after a married woman or his wife’s sister (which is why he was to me a better class of a man than JR, Cliff and Mark, he was not a DOG). Any person who says they are in love someone while that person is involved with or not involve with someone else and there had never, ever been any romantic encounters or reciprocated feelings to begin with is someone not to get involve with, person may not be well mentally.

    • I agree that even if Bobby did have some romantic feelings for Katherine her being Pam’s sister would have always stood between them because it would have been too awkward for everyone.Bobby never would have tried to come between Pam and Katherine and their relationship as sisters.
