Want to Help Boost ‘Dallas’s’ Audience? Here’s How

Dallas, John Ross Ewing, Josh Henderson, Julie Gonzalo, Pamela Rebecca Barnes Ewing, TNT

Promise to watch

You love TNT’s “Dallas” and want the show to be a hit, right? Here are three things fans like us can do to help the series get the big audience it deserves:

1. Watch “Dallas.” If it sounds easy, that’s because it is. TNT shows a new episode every Monday night at 9, Eastern and Pacific times, and 8, Central time. Watch it. Enjoy it. If you can’t view it “live,” set your DVR to record it and watch it as soon as you can. You can also download episodes from iTunes and Amazon.com, and if you’re a cable subscriber, you can stream them at DallasTNT.com.

2. Talk about “Dallas” online. If you watch the show live, get on Twitter and tweet about it with your fellow fans. Be sure to use the hashtag #DallasTNT in all your tweets. If you want to read what other fans are saying about the show, enter #DallasTNT in Twitter’s search field and click “All” to see all the “Dallas”-related tweets.

As TV ratings expert Marc Berman told us recently, social media buzz is increasingly important to the success of series like “Dallas.” Consider this: The show’s official Twitter feed has 84,800 followers; if each one sent six #DallasTNT tweets last week, “Dallas” might have knocked AMC’s “The Walking Dead” off its perch as TV’s buzziest drama on Twitter. (“The Walking Dead” generated 439,000 tweets that were seen by 4.8 million people, according to Nielsen.)

You can also chat up “Dallas” on Facebook and other social media, where I encourage you to share my newly published list of 15 reasons everyone should be watching the show.

3. Talk about “Dallas” in real life. Never underestimate the power of good, old-fashioned word-of-mouth. If you love “Dallas,” tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers … everyone! Here’s an example of how you can weave “Dallas” into everyday conversation:

CO-WORKER: Hey, I’m going out for lunch. Can I pick you up something?

YOU: Sure, I’ll take a Coke. And when you get back, remind me to tell you how Judith Light snorted coke on “Dallas” last week.

You get the idea.

So hop to it, fellow fans. “Dallas” is already the best show on TV; now let’s make it the most popular.

  1. Dallas season3 is not broadcasted in Israel yet. But I am active on social network.

  2. I love these ideas C.B. Now here’s 1 for u boy, why not tell fans to also watch the old series if they haven’t seen it b4 or even if they have. Get the new viewers hooked on classic DALLAS CBS episodes & they’ll fall in love with DALLAS TNT!

  3. We have yet to get Season 3 in Ireland but it is due to start in April. I mention Dallas ALL the time on Facebook and regularly share photos and promos etc. I am nervous about cancellation if US ratings continue to drop as they currently are doing……this show deserves to be a massive hit!! And in fairness TNT have heavily promoted it and are really behind it so let’s all do our best to get it back on top!

    • Hi Aaron! Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond to this comment. I’m trying to catch up on all the comments in the order in which they were left, but I’ll respond to this one right now.

I’m glad “Dallas’s” third season will arrive in Ireland soon. I hope you enjoy it.

I wouldn’t worry about cancellation just yet. Let’s see what happens with the rest of the season. I agree, though, that TNT has given the show lots of promotion. Here’s hoping viewers will start to pay attention and tune in.

Thank you for watching the show and reading Dallas Decoder. Thanks also for talking about the show on social media. We need more fans like you!

      Chris

Do you get money for this?
Not long ago, this used to be a website with balanced reviews. Now TNT’s reboot is the best thing on TV? Are you kidding me? You sound like a spin doctor for TNT’s promo department. I would understand if you’d enjoy this as a guilty pleasure show and say so, a bit stupid, a bit hyper, fast food TV before bed time, so to speak. But according to you literally everything about this show is FANTASTIC…where did your common sense go?
I really enjoyed your reviews regarding original Dallas, they were balanced, critical, they made sense. But everything concerning TNT’s version is a huge disappointment.

    • Hi Katherine,

Thanks for your feedback. I’ve fallen far behind on responding to my comments, but I don’t want to delay responding to yours.

First, I get no money for this site. It actually costs me money to produce and promote the site, but I don’t mind because I have a lot of fun with it.

Second, if my critiques of the TNT series are more enthusiastic than usual, it’s because I feel the show has never been better. To me, the new “Dallas” is a hoot and honestly, there’s no series on television I enjoy more right now.

What do you dislike about the show? Please let me know. I always welcome other points of view and as long as readers are willing to be polite, I’m willing to share their thoughts in the comments section.

      Thanks again.

      CB

I agree 100% with everything you just stated Chris! I adore this website as a fan of both the original and the TNT versions of Dallas. It serves as a Dallas encyclopedia for me and other fans! Not sure why Katherine (Wentworth? 🙂 ) is so annoyed! Thank you for your continued support of my favourite television show! My ONLY criticism is that you didn’t respond to my other comment on this thread! 🙂 I have been checking back daily!

      • Thanks Aaron! I just responded to your original comment. Sorry it took so long.
