This one might actually be a tie. I liked them both and neither committed many terrible sins against their marriage. Yes there was the Tacopa near divorce but I thought the misunderstanding of that storyline was a bit awkward and unbelievably corny to take seriously. (Kind of like an episode of Three’s Company.) And if the worst thing Clayton ever did was not talk about Jessica or hang around with Laurel Ellis in an honest to God non-sexual way he was doing pretty good as well.

  2. Jennifer Irons says:

I think Clayton was the better husband mostly because he kept JR in line better than Jock did!

  3. Clayton was a better husband.

  4. Clayton for sure !

  5. Rosanne says:

Miss Ellie married Jock to save Southfork for her family. She married Clayton for love and companionship. I vote for Clayton!

  6. Statistical dead heat C.B. Husband Jock gave Ellie the strength & fortitude to save Southfork Ranch, keep it strong, & also raise 3 sons to help control Ewing Oil, Southfork, & other assets. Plus he gave her courage & determination in her battle with breast cancer. Husband Clayton made Ellie into more of a proper lady, set on retirement mose who could still swing the axe if J.R., Bobby, & sometimes Gary got out of line. Plus he ensured her safety & need 4 quiet time was secure when she felt stressed from her kids battles. Both men treated Miss Ellie equally when it came to Stepson Ray. Jock got her to be accepting of him & Clayton got her to be respectful of the fact that just b/c Ray had a different woman’s DNA in him, he still was a part of the proud legacy that is the Ewings of Braddock County & Dallas, Texas!

  7. Garnet McGee says:

I vote for Clayton. I haven’t finished season 7 but so far he has been nothing but respectful. He hasn’t lied to her or tried to have more power the way that Jock did. Jock didn’t have as much respect for Southfork as Miss Ellie did. Clayton was much gentler.
