#DallasChat Daily: Which Sue Ellen Do You Prefer?

Dallas, Linda Gray, Sue Ellen Ewing, TNT

Sue Ellen Ewing has shown us many sides of her personality since “Dallas” began in 1978. She’s been a loyal wife, a vengeful divorcee, a high-society lady who lunches, a down-in-the-gutter drunk, a take-no-prisoners businesswoman, a failed politician — and much, much more.

  1. Dan in WI says:

I never cared for the character until the season she bought Valentine Lingerie. Then much like JR when he learned just what she had done I couldn’t help but respect her. So needless to say I haven’t cared for her return to drinking in TNT. Ironically, here is one area where Cidre actually does a good, credible and believable job of explaining how such a drasic character change occured. (*cough* Cliff Barnes *cough*)

  2. Kelley Tyler says:

    The original!

  3. Jennifer Irons says:

I prefer the strong, non drinking, and tough businesswoman Sue Ellen! I liked when she tried to blackmail that medical examiner when she was trying to help John Ross and when she was running for Governor. She was at her best when she used some of JR’s dirty tricks, she truly learned from him!

  4. The stronger woman from the mid 80’s, although Linda Gray was amazing as a down and out in 1985

  5. I love them all but I see Sue Ellen as a strong, powerful, wisecracking bitch with a heart. I also liked her having a vice and taking a drinking now and then. Functioning drunks are very common and would have been more believable for me. I don’t like the powerless hopeless drunk Sue Ellen. The Sue Ellen I love would have smacked Pamela Rebecca across the face and read her the riot act by putting her in her place … not wimper off destroyed.

  6. I prefer that the sue Ellen from season one and two should have stayed.this crape that she is drinking again.cause of john ross is crap.she had been through worse with jr.so there is no good reason for her to start up gain.let her be the bitch she became in season 10 .11 12.of the old dallas.we loved her new roll.bring here back.

  7. Garnet McGee says:

I prefer the Sue Ellen we saw in season 1 and season 2 of the reboot to the Sue Ellen in the original series. She was JR’s victim far too often in the original and it made her into a less interesting character. She slept with other men merely in reaction to his behavior. I liked it best in season 1 when she had more power and money than JR.

  8. The Sue Ellen I prefer is the 1 that I could bed down with!
